The aim is to develop theoretical-anthropological-architectural foundations that deepen the meaning of place in consideration of diversity. The methodology is a contrast of principles and foundations of these positions, with the intention of amalgamating discourses that respond to the demands of social and rights movements in recent decades. The results enable the hermeneusis of the architectural text, reflecting on how the dialogue is circumscribed to the conditions of a normalised user. It is concluded that the construction of a theoretical-anthropological-architectural framework is essential to make the diversity of people visible, ensuring that the project is chronotopic, that is, that it responds to the identities, social context and history of all the inhabitants.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/76085Cadavres exquis. Automatic processes in the building extensions of OMA 2024-12-02T14:26:28+00:00Javier Arias Maderojavier.arias@uva.es
This article examines the affinities between Rem Koolhaas’s architectural extension strategies and the surrealist concept of the ‘exquisite corpse’. The problem addressed is how these extensions, conceived as ideologically autonomous components, reconfigure the building as a collective palimpsest. The objective is to analyze how these practices align with the principles of ‘Manhattanism’ articulated in Delirious New York and how they resonate with the organic excrescences characteristic of Salvador Dalí’s artistic universe. The methodology employs a critical analysis of Koolhaas’s key projects alongside an interpretation of surrealist methodologies, assessing their conceptual convergence. The findings indicate that these extensions, formally autonomous and seemingly random, not only fulfill functional requirements but also challenge the rationalist foundations of architectural design, establishing an interdisciplinary dialogue between architecture and surrealist art.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/73558Narrating spaces by constellations of images: warburguian metaphor applied to the web2024-07-05T15:21:28+00:00Ana Carolina Ribeiro-da-Costaana.ferreira.costa@alumni.usp.brArtur Simões Rozestratenartur.rozestraten@usp.brLeandro Manuel Reis-Vellosoleandrovelloso@usp.br
The current work outlines requirements for an experimental web interface that fosters an understanding of the built environment through visual narratives, forming a sensitive and relational connection among diverse elements in architectural and urban imagery. Two experimental photographic walks in São Paulo and Recife yielded alternative representations, addressing the question: “What other ways are possible to represent the experience of walking through the city beyond a single static image?”. The results guide the development of digital interface requirements for the Arquigrafia collection. The suggested experimental interface project can be seen as a technological update of Aby Warburg’s metaphor of image constellations.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/76180Active mobility and the 15-minute city: the case of Santa Fe, Mexico2024-11-05T14:35:24+00:00Paula Solís-Moralesa01655584@tec.mxDaniela Rodríguez Martíneza01655723@tec.mxBogdan Mircea Iliebogdan@tec.mxCaribay Godoy-Rangelcgodoyr@tec.mx
In affluent urban areas, where automobile use
is the predominant mode of transportation, non-motorized mobility presents several challenges. This has the effect of limiting physical activity and social interaction, which in turn affects the quality of life of the inhabitants and increases the environmental impact. The aim of this study is to identify the obstacles to active mobility and their impact on the implementation of the 15-minute city concept through an innovative methodology that is readily adoptable. To this end, the road, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure was examined using isochrone mapping, architectural cuts and connectivity mapping of a case study: the sub-urban area of Santa Fe, Mexico City, Mexico. The findings revealed that vehicular mobility is a priority in all the sections studied, with 80 % of vehicular roads in excellent condition, while 80 % of pedestrian roads are deficient, as well as those for cyclists. These results align with theoretical perspectives that highlight the lack of equity in urban design and its impact on active mobility. However, these findings also serve as a reference for the design of future urban projects in areas with similar characteristics.

2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/74530Plant palette from Mexico, tool for contemporary landscape project in rural environments2024-09-27T14:00:01+00:00Mariana Teresa Silveyra Rosalesmariana.silveyra@uaem.edu.mxOfelia Sotelo-Caroofelia.sotelo@uaem.mxRaúl Guzmán-Lópezraul_gl@outlook.comJosé Chichia-Gonzálezceiba.sigmor@gmail.com
Rural environments are currently appreciated for tourism, hence the importance of preserving their identity. This research considers the biological, environmental and social aspects that encourage harmony between the inhabitants of the homes and their environment, in addition to conserving traditional knowledge. The floristic wealth of Mexico offers a variety for the use of native plants in landscape design. A field study is carried out to observe the plants in the region and their growth, as well as surveys of residents to know their preferences regarding the plants of the community. Based on the results, through a plant palette, the species suitable for environments where water resources are a limiting factor (tropical deciduous forest) in the indigenous municipality of Xoxocotla are suggested. This methodology can be applied in various environments and latitudes. It is concluded that the people of the community of Xoxoxotla give symbolic value to the native vegetation due to its relationship with traditional knowledge, therefore the plant palette and the proposed project exercise will be easy to appropriate, use and apply.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/75862Energy performance assessment of housing in San Juan, Argentina: proposed scale2024-10-18T12:20:53+00:00Yesica Alamino Naranjoalaminoyesica@gmail.com
The objective of this work is to take a first step towards creating an Energy Performance Index scale for residential buildings in the City of San Juan, Argentina. To achieve this, the georeferential and technical-constructive characteristics of four pilot homes are surveyed. Then, the average energy performance index is calculated using the online software AIN. This value is categorized according to the criteria set by the Secretariat of Energy, positioning it in the middle of category E within an energy efficiency scale that encompasses seven levels, from A to G. The other categories are established through ranges of percentage variability. The results indicate that the optimal energy performance index for this region is 60 kWh/m2-year, while the less efficient categories, such as E, F, and G, are situated at 255 kWh/m2-year, 345 kWh/m2-year, and 435 kWh/m2-year, respectively.

2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/75991Analysis of professional conditions in architecture and urban planning: expanding boundaries of action2024-10-28T20:54:44+00:00Mariane Garcia-Unanuemariane.unanue@ufjf.brMarcela Martins Cavalari-Cardosomarcela.cavalari@arquitetura.ufjf.brLarissa Costa-Barroslarissa.barros@arquitetura.ufjf.br
This article reviews professional definitions and practices in Architecture and Urbanism, focusing on consultancy as a response to contemporary demands in the Brazilian market. Based on an exploratory approach and bibliographic review, the study highlights the scarcity of clear definitions on Architecture and Urbanism consultancy and the lack of standardization of the service among professionals. In addition, it analyzes the gaps between what is taught, regulated, and practiced, proposing consultancy as an alternative that expands professional possibilities and reinforces the connection between architects and society. Although it does not offer a single solution, the article reflects on the potential of the service to diversify and value the role of architects in the current socioeconomic context.

Introducing the problem of small-scale densification and heritage conservation, we analyze the value of renovating houses of obsolete size and programs, giving them a second life that takes advantage of both the existing
urbanization (streets, parks, infrastructure, services and its privileged connectivity) and the quality of its construction (its materiality, the strength of its walls, its height and its aesthetic value). In the case study, by means of addition and subtraction operations-interior divisions, new stairs and a glass pavilion- a single-family dwelling is renovated and transformed into three, thus generating a small residential complex that respects and projects the values of the garden city model that this sector of Providencia still maintains.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/73671A way of looking at the Munch Museum2024-06-07T13:23:51+00:00Aurora Fernández-Rodríguezmariaaurora.fernandez@upm.es
The article develops a way of working from the Herreros Studio in the Munch Museum project, based on strategies that promote the exhibition space as a place of events. They use the diagram to organize the program and connect spaces, working with flexibility that allows for heterogeneity and programmatic change where other agents of the community intervene in the definition of the museum and which it completed with the users. A methodology consisted of developing a story that begins from the competition and the references based on the connectivity of the diagram for the definition of identities. This open narrative explores the museum ́s concept through diagrammatic situations both in the architectural, social, and political plane, and its capacity to foresee the spatial appropriation of users is the clue to proposing an expanded version of the museum: The museum is the city.
2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitecturahttps://revistaestudiostributarios.uchile.cl/index.php/RA/article/view/77089Escuchar a los árboles2024-12-16T22:25:57+00:00Laura Gallardo Fríasdearquitectura@uchilefau.cl2024-12-20T00:00:00+00:00Copyright (c) 2024 Revista de Arquitectura
