Intensification in the spanish press' opinion articles: Harvey Weinstein's qualitative analysis

Authors

Abstract

This work attempts to analyse intensification published in the Spanish media after Weinstein’s case in 2017. Thus, we want to conclude to what extent the Spanish media carried the general indignation or whether, on the contrary, it prefers to adopt a neutral position. To this task, we shall divide the intensifiers into lexical, semantic and stylistics. Also, we shall make a statistical operation of the variance and hypothesis among the three types of intensification and conclude with the reasons of the results offered. In this way, we shall carry out a content analysis. Results show that the lexical and semantic examples follow a relative frequency, while stylistics do not follow a common pattern of frequency.
