Mechanisms of citizen participation in Mexico, an analysis and a comparison of the national sub-national rules
Abstract
In the majority of the Federal Entities of the Mexican State, there has been a gradual creation of regulations that include a series of mechanisms of direct democracy, with the main aim of empowering citizens. In this context, this current document pretends to do a comparative study of the different laws of citizen participation that exist in a local level as an imprescriptible condition of the democratic regimes, as well as the different mechanisms that include every one of these laws and if this mechanism are really the adequate ones to allow a truthful, direct incidence of the citizens in the decision making process, or if, such mechanisms have been applied in a shady way since their creation to guarantee a better quality of the democracy.Keywords:
